At SeaLink North Queensland, we are committed to delivering our services to create brilliant customer experiences for all our guests, but in a sustainable way that celebrates and protects the beautiful environment we live and operate in.

We are proud to announce that we have achieved ECO certification from Ecotourism Australia.

The ECO Certification program recognises businesses with a genuine focus on providing sustainable and responsible tourism visitor experiences. Achieving ECO certification assures our customers that our services are backed by a commitment to sustainable practices while providing high-quality nature-based tourism experiences.

Respecting of Culture Certification

Recognition for SeaLink’s work with the Munburra and Wulgurukaba Traditional Owners in the North Queensland region.

Here are some of the sustainability initiatives that we are currently undertaking:

  • Installation of two solar-powered car park lights to improve lighting at night and also an energy-saving initiative
  • Introduced digital e-tickets and a commuter app reducing the use of paper tickets
  • Preference goods and services that have lower energy, waste, and emissions associated with our operations, goods, and services
  • Purchasing local products to reduce transport emissions
  • Lighting within the terminal and vessels are all energy efficient and are turned off when not in use
  • Equipment is maintained to obtain optimal operation e.g. our A/C systems across the business
  • Food and materials are purchased in bulk where available and overpackaged goods are avoided where possible
  • All our paper is recycled and our print promotional materials use FSC-certified paper
  • Non-disposable items (cutlery, containers) are available in the office kitchen
  • Toner cartridges are recycled or refilled, and
  • being an active member of the Plastic Free Townsville initiative.
