Community Support

Supporting the Community

Our engagement and support for the communities where we operate takes the approach of a bespoke local content plan to capture the needs of our community and empower our teams on the ground.

Local community support primarily takes the form of directly creating local jobs and economic opportunities through us or our suppliers, as well as charitable donations, sponsorship, and the provision of in-kind services to enable our communities to thrive. SeaLink proudly supports the Annual SeaLink Magnetic Island Race Week an iconic destination event for Townsville, North Queensland and the event generates over $1 Million in revenue for the local economy each year.

Prizes for Community Fundraising

Fundraising is an important part of many schools, churches, societies, clubs, and community organizations' activities, SeaLink North Queensland can help by donating ferry tickets as prizes.

To request a donation for fundraising, complete the Fundraising Prize Application Form.

We regret that we cannot grant every donation request due to the large number of requests we receive, and we can only respond to successful applicants.

SeaLink North Queensland may be able to assist with free or discounted ferry travel for organizations that complete the Travel Sponsorship Application Form and address all criteria.

NQ Cowboys Obe Geia Challenge

St Clare's Catholic School celebrated a hard fought victory over Marian Catholic School to lift this year's Obe Geia Challenge trophy. Eight mainland teams and a side from Magnetic Island joined two local schools on Palm Island for the one day rugby league carnival, enjoying a day of footy while experiencing the life and culture of Palm Island. The 2023 Obe Geia Challenge was made possible thanks to Navarre Minerals, SeaLink, Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council and selectability. Obe Geia Challenge is a reconciliation initiative proudly supported by the Department of Seniors, Disability Services and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships through the Celebrating Reconciliation Small Grants Program.
