About Kangaroo Island, South Australia
Kangaroo Island or KI as the locals call it is a South Australia icon and one of world’s finest nature destinations, with breathtaking landscapes and fascinating wildlife. Just a short distance off the coast of South Australia, Kangaroo Island is internationally celebrated for its pristine wilderness and wildlife as well as a thriving food and wine industry.
KI is Australia's third largest island at 155 km long by 55 km wide, and over 540 kms of spectacular coastline. It is a big place and will easily take you days to discover.
Across the island a menagerie of wildlife abounds – from kangaroos and wallabies to echidna and goannas, koalas eye you from the gum trees. Take a visit to Seal Bay, or a nocturnal tour to see penguins parading the beach.
Enjoy some regional award-winning wines or relish in an array of local produce from sheep’s cheese and yoghurt to organic honey and fresh seafood.
The recreation on the island is as exciting and diverse as its wildlife and produce. There’s boating, swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, surfing, caving, bushwalking, quad-biking and sandboarding to name just a few!
