Meet Jacob Pilot

Current Role: Maintenance Manager – SeaLink North Queensland, Townsville

Jacob Pilot joined SeaLink North Queensland as a Diesel Fitter, seeking a new challenge and a change of scenery. Drawn by the company’s strong team culture, he quickly found his place, bringing his technical skills to support the safe and reliable operation of SeaLink North Queensland’s vessel fleet.

His dedication and leadership potential soon led to a promotion to Maintenance Manager, where he now oversees the maintenance of SeaLink’s Townsville vessels and infrastructure. Jacob’s role involves developing and implementing preventative maintenance strategies, tackling unplanned repairs, and planning and delivering major repair and maintenance projects. He thrives on helping his team grow their skills and driving continuous improvement across operations.

During his time at SeaLink, Jacob has contributed to significant projects, including vessel refits, infrastructure upgrades, and the successful completion of the engine repower project on Palm Cat, a complex initiative that required extensive planning, teamwork, and problem-solving.

Jacob credits his growth to the strong mentoring culture at SeaLink, as well as the hands-on learning opportunities that have deepened his technical expertise and leadership skills. He sees his future at SeaLink as an opportunity to continue growing as a leader, helping to advance the business and mentor the next generation of maritime professionals.
