  • SeaLink Passenger Update on Palm Island jetty infrastructure damage due to Ex-Cyclone Kirrily

    We regret to inform you that repairs to the Palm Island lower pontoon and upper gangway at the Palm Island Jetty have not yet commenced following the damage caused by Ex-Cyclone Kirrily.

    As a result, the suspension of freight trolley services will continue, and we must maintain current minimum freight restrictions, allowing only essential carry-on items, which include:



    ✅Small household items

    ✅What can be carried on the vessel in one trip

    ❌Please note that large items such as TVs, bikes and scooters, as well as tyres and awnings, will be turned away.

    We understand and apologise for the inconvenience this may cause, however SeaLink are required to adhere to the strict operational conditions currently imposed for use of the infrastructure.

    The safety of our customers and crew remains our top priority.

    Please be aware that the repairs are unlikely to commence prior to Mid-April, as informed by PIASC.

    In the meantime, we have limited storage including Cold storage aboard Coolgaree Cat which remains open for our customers to store products once they board the vessel in Townsville and remove them upon arrival on Palm Island.

    For bulky household items and any other freight that cannot be carried on, we recommend utilising the Palm Island Barge freight service.
