The Obe Geia Challenge is an annual junior rugby league carnival held on Palm Island, Queensland, established in 2009 by the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys. Named after Obadiah “Obe” Geia—the first Palm Islander to play in the NRL for the Cowboys—the event celebrates community, culture, and youth development through sport.

The Challenge brings together teams of 15 players aged 10–12 from Palm Island, Townsville, Magnetic Island, and surrounding areas. Participation is free for students, families, and schools, serving as an incentive for regular school attendance and positive behaviour. The event also features cultural education components, allowing students to experience the beauty and traditions of Palm Island firsthand.

This event is not only supported by SeaLink Queensland sponsoring the charter to and from Palm, Island but also the Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council and Selectibility ensuring the Obe Geia Challenge continues to foster inclusion, reconciliation, and youth engagement in North Queensland.
