What would you do if you only have 3 days to spend on Kangaroo Island? Michael and Charlie from Husbands that Travel share their epic 3-day adventure. Their self-drive itinerary covers things you could do while holidaying on the island – from best places to see, best things to do and places to eat.

First thing first, try to get to the island early; take the SeaLink ferry in the morning to maximise your time on the island.

Day 1: Explore the west of Kangaroo Island: Penneshaw to American River

Prospect Hill should be your first stop. It has 500 steps but once you reach the top, you’ll be spoiled by amazing views of the island. From Prospect Hill, head to Pennington Bay for a stroll or dip on the beach. Make a quick stop for lunch at the Oyster Farm Shop and enjoy delicious seafood platter before you continue to Dudley Wines for a wine tasting. Head back to Penneshaw and enjoy an afternoon stroll at the Penneshaw Beach. The guys also recommend that you should spend some time walking along the sculpture trail to see wallabies out and about just right before sunset!

Day 2: Swim with the dolphins and cuddle the koalas

Make sure you include swimming with dolphins on your itinerary. The guys think it’s the best dolphin experience they’ve had, and they have swum with dolphins in many places! You can book your experience with KI Marine Adventures. For lunch, head to Cactus Café or Café Scrumptious for delicious squid salad or pizza. Don’t forget to make a quick stop at Kangaroo Island Spirits for some delicious gins. Spend the rest of the afternoon at the Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park to cuddle a koala.

Day 3: Seal Bay to Flinders Chase National Park

Although Michael and Charlie didn’t get the chance to stop by, they recommend you should start your day by heading over to Seal Bay Conservation Park. The park is famous for its seal colonies and it’s a must-visit place on KI. From Seal Bay, continue your trip to Vivonne Bay, KI’s most famous beach. For lunch, get a plate of whiting burger from Vivonne Bay General Store. On KI you must try your best to stop by as many beaches as you can because it is what the island is famous for! So, head to Hanson Bay for a quick afternoon stroll. Finally, make your way to Flinders Chase National Park and spend a few hours there. Visit Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch while you’re at the park.

We hope that this 3-day itinerary from Husbands that Travel helps you in planning your trip to KI.
