What are the top picnic spots on Kangaroo Island, in your opinion?
Reeves Point

The view from Reeves Point is nothing short of spectacular. Here you'll find picnic tables, BBQ facilities, a playground for the kids, public restrooms and historic sites as this spot was the first official location of European settlement in South Australia. Swing by Bay of Shoals on the way, immerse yourself in the rich flavours of local KI wines, and consider grabbing a bottle to complement your picnic basket.
Pennington Bay

Pennington Bay is known for its breathtaking views of the Southern Ocean, and it’s only 20-minute drive from Kingscote towards Penneshaw. Whether you choose a perch on the rugged clifftop or the pristine beach below, you will not be disappointed. Here you will find ample car parking and public restrooms.
Harvey’s Return

A challenging yet rewarding picnic spot is Harvey’s Return located on the North Coast. Though it involves a bit of a hike, the payoff is truly extraordinary once you reach the beach. This spot, off the beaten tourist path, guarantees a secluded and intimate experience. Imagine having a whole beach for yourself. Although, prepare to embrace the wilderness and all that comes with it, including limited facilities.
Where to pick the picnic basket from?
Collect your picnic basket from Cactus KI, located in Kingscote. Simply give them a call or send them an email to organise at least 24 hours in advance. Once ready, your picnic hamper can be conveniently picked up at the café during its opening hours.

The picnic hamper is a delicious assortment of gourmet cold-cut meats, house-made dukkha and chutneys, Kangaroo Island olive oil, South Australian cheeses, a variety of pickles, fresh fruits, crackers, and freshly baked bread. Starting at a base price of $65 per hamper box, you can customise it to suit your preferences. Rest assured, they gladly accommodate dietary requirements, ensuring your picnic experience is tailored to your liking.
