Day 1: Arrive on KI, lunch overlooking the ocean and spend an afternoon with the local wildlife
To make the most of your day, begin your journey by heading to Cape Jervis in the morning to catch the SeaLink ferry to Penneshaw. Enjoy a scenic 45-minute ferry ride across the backstairs passage, the stretch of water that separates Kangaroo Island from the mainland of South Australia.
Disembarking from the ferry, you'll be greeted by the mesmerising turquoise waters surrounding the jetty and Penneshaw beach. After your journey, you're bound to have worked up an appetite. Treat yourself to a delightful lunch at The Kiosk or Penneshaw Pub both overlooking the ocean.
To immerse yourself amongst the island’s wildlife, we recommend visiting Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park. Home to over 500 animals and 100 different species, the wildlife sanctuary offers a range of captivating animal encounters. Enjoy cuddling a koala, feeding friendly kangaroos, holding a snake, or embarking on a guided journey into the African cats enclosure with their dedicated keeper. Spring, in particular, is a magical time when many animals are nurturing their young, so keep a keen eye out, as you might catch a glimpse of a wallaby or kangaroo joey peeking from its mother's pouch or a koala joey hitching a ride on its mother's back.
Day 2: Visit Raptor Domain, sample one-of-a-kind honey, and taste KI’s best drops

While you’re there, you will learn the fascinating history of the oil distillery and gain understanding of the art of processing eucalyptus leaves to make a range of products that you can explore in their shop. It's a tasty and educational stop on your adventure.
Clifford’s Honey Farm is your next destination, offering a fascinating glimpse into honey production by the world's only pure strain of Ligurian bee. In spring, as the Ligurian bees begin their honey production, you'll have the chance to visit the honey room, where you'll discover the intricate extraction process, savour a refreshing honey soft drink, and even choose to enjoy a sample of the Honey Wheat Ale from their microbrewery, Drunken Drone Brewery. There will be a chance to purchase the different varieties of pure Kangaroo Island Ligurian honey and beauty products, not to mention their iconic honey ice cream.
Next, capture the beauty of Pennington Bay, a spectacular beach on Kangaroo Island’s south coast, for a memorable photo opportunity. Then end the day at False Cape Wines Cellar Door with a premium wine tasting. Soak in the beautiful vineyard views and make a new friend as you say hello to their friendly pet lamb.
Day 3: Watch the Australian sea lions bask in the sun, and get the adrenalin pumping
Begin your next adventure by heading over to Seal Bay Conservation Park, home to an Australian sea lion population for thousands of years. Join a knowledgeable ranger on a guided beach tour for an immerse experience with these endangered animals, while maintaining a safe distance to learn about their unique habitat. If you prefer to go at your own pace, there's also a wheelchair-accessible boardwalk where you can spot the sea lions from the viewing platforms.
Satisfy your appetite by visiting the Vivonne Bay General Store, known for their famous K.I. whiting burger. You can either dine in at one of their tables looking at the surrounding nature or venture to the nearby Vivonne Bay jetty, only a 6-minute drive away. Here, you'll have the opportunity to soak in the breathtaking turquoise water, adding a touch of serenity to your holiday experience.

Day 4: Breakfast at Millie Mae's Pantry, explore Remarkable Rocks
Enjoy a scrumptious breakfast at one of the various cafes or bakeries on the Island. Head to Café Scrumptious or Cactus Café for a hearty breakfast in Kingscote. If you’re staying in Penneshaw, you’ll find barista-made coffee and delicious treats at Fat Beagle Coffee Shop. Or just across the road is Millie Mae’s Pantry where you can dine amongst the fruit trees. Stock up on some local products and fill your picnic basket before heading on a day exploring Flinders Chase National Park. Tip: The last stop to refuel your vehicle or purchase food is Vivonne Bay General Store.
Home to breathtaking landscapes, an abundance of wildlife, flora and fauna and a variety of hiking trails, Flinders Chase National Park is one of Australia’s natural wonders. As the weather begins to warm and wildlife joeys coming out to play, spring is an ideal season to behold this natural sanctuary. Bushwalking is a fantastic way to take in the stunning landscapes, with a variety of hiking trails available including Cape du Couedic hike (40 min loop, 2km) along spectacular coastal cliff tops and Platypus Waterholes walk to see where the island’s platypus reside (2 hrs, 4.5km).
Get your cameras out because Flinders Chase National Park is home to the geological wonder, Remarkable Rocks. Perched atop a cliff, you’ll find these giant granite formations, moulded over 500 million years by erosive force winds, sea spray and rainfall. The rocks can be explored and climbed upon, making for an interactive and engaging experience. Stop at the historic Weirs Cover Ruins Lookout for coastal views before arriving at another astonishing natural spectacle that is Admirals Arch, a unique rock formation that has naturally evolved into a breathtaking archway. It serves as a picturesque frame for a beautiful cove, where the lively presence of fur seals adds to the enchantment of the rocky landscape. Day 5: Swim with dolphins, lose yourself in a lavender farm, and enjoy wildflowers in bloom
