We are pleased to share that the construction of SeaLink’s two new 60m drive-through ferries is progressing well, and we are on track to commence service in 2025, in line with the completion of Cape Jervis and Kangaroo Island Ports Upgrade.

The Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) works started in February 2024 with the infrastructure upgrades at the Penneshaw and Cape Jervis ports advancing as planned.

SeaLink will also be leading some specific construction activities starting at Cape Jervis on Monday 12 August 2024, which will include construction site setup, installation of temporary fencing and widening the roadway leading to the vehicle loading area. SeaLink’s construction efforts are focused on the;

  • Vehicle loading area and access
  • Vehicle loading ramps
  • Ferry maintenance berth.

During this period, parking access will be restricted in some areas (as indicated on image below), however existing designated parking areas will remain unchanged. These restrictions will remain in place until the completion of the Cape Jervis port works.

We urge everyone to exercise caution when moving around the port and carparks. Please follow the directions of on-site workers and observe all signage to ensure your safety and that of others.

We continue to work closely with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, who are delivering upgrades to the Government-owned port side infrastructure as part of their Cape Jervis and Kangaroo Island Ports Upgrade. For further information on these upgrades, visit https://www.dit.sa.gov.au/KIPorts or contact the Department by emailing [email protected] or calling 1300 794 880.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we undertake these significant improvements to enhance your future travel experience.
