Day One:
Meet the Tour Escort at your city hotel or the Adelaide Central Bus Station. Travel to Cape Jervis to board the SeaLink Ferry to Penneshaw, Kangaroo Island. On arrival, visit Frenchman’s Rock and the Maritime & Folk Museum before lunch at the Penneshaw Hotel. Continue to Cape Willoughby, where the first lighthouse built in SA is located. Accommodation for the next five nights is at the delightful Mercure Kangaroo Island Lodge, American River. Enjoy dinner this evening with your fellow travellers.
Day Two:
After breakfast, we visit the family-run Oyster Farm Shop in American River, before heading to the north of the island to the Old Wisanger School, officially opened in 1885, then it's on to the ‘secret beach’ at Stokes Bay, recently awarded Best Beach in Australia. Our delicious lunch today will be enjoyed at the Rockpool Café, Stokes Bay. This afternoon we visit the Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park with its amazing array of animals, before returning to our hotel and enjoying dinner with our group.
Day Three:
This morning we travel to the western end of the Island to Flinders Chase National Park to witness its natural rugged beauty and the spectacular Remarkable Rocks, Cape du Couedic Lighthouse and Admirals Arch. We will enjoy lunch at Vivonne Bay Bistro, and then visit famous Seal Bay for a guided beach walk amongst a colony of Australian sea lions. We return to our hotel for dinner.
Day Four:
This morning see the Rebuild the Independence project at American River Wharf, and then it's onto Raptor Domain for their entertaining Birds of Prey free flight presentation. Lunch is at Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery Café and we'll take a tour and a chance to shop! To complete the day, we visit the picturesque Bay of Shoals Winery, to taste some of their quality wines and admire the distant vistas of the North Cape. There is also a short tour of Kingscote, the main township and some free time for a walk on the foreshore or browse in the shops and galleries.
Day Five:
Visit Clifford’s Honey Farm, home to the only pure strain of Ligurian Bee in the world followed by a delicious lunch at the Emu Bay Lavender Farm with time to browse and shop in their charming store. We stop off at Emu Bay, renowned for its beautiful four kilometre beach. Lastly, we visit the award-winning Kangaroo Island Spirits for gin tasting before our farewell group dinner at the hotel.
Day Six:
Departing American River, we head back to Penneshaw stopping at KI Artworks Gallery to pick up last-minute gifts and then we have fun at Rob’s Shearing and Sheepdogs demonstration before lunch at False Cape Wines Cellar Door - a perfect end to a wonderful six days. We return to Adelaide this afternoon via the SeaLink ferry and a picturesque drive through the Fleurieu Peninsula reminiscing about wonderful new friendships and great memories of Kangaroo Island.
