SeaLink is preparing for the next stage of the Redland Bay Vehicle Ferry Terminal Upgrade, an important project that will improve the long-term reliability, safety and efficiency of services for the Southern Moreton Bay Islands community.
As part of this transition, we are implementing revised timetables and vessel allocations from mid-June 2026 to ensure we can continue to provide safe and reliable services throughout the construction period and minimise disruption when major works commence.
A Long-Term Investment in SMBI
The Redland Bay upgrade represents a significant investment in the future of the SMBI vehicle ferry network.
The project includes the removal of the existing stern loader and the installation of a second linkspan, helping create a more efficient and reliable terminal for residents, businesses and visitors.
This investment builds on the introduction of two new vehicle ferries in recent years and reflects SeaLink's ongoing commitment to providing dependable ferry services for the growing SMBI community.
Once complete, the terminal improvements will deliver:
- Improved loading and unloading efficiency
- Enhanced safety for customers and crew
- Greater operational reliability
- Increased capacity to support future growth
- Reduced infrastructure maintenance requirements
Why Are Timetables Changing Before Construction Starts?
While the next stage of construction is currently expected to commence later in 2026, SeaLink has chosen to implement its operating plan now rather than wait until construction activities begin.
By making the changes in advance, we can:
- Reduce disruption for customers
- Provide greater certainty around services
- Transition vessel allocations in a planned and controlled way
- Ensure the network is prepared for future construction activities
- Maintain service reliability throughout the project
Booking Update
To support the transition, our team is currently updating timetables, vessel allocations and customer travel arrangements within our booking systems.
As a result, bookings beyond 1 July 2026 are temporarily unavailable while these updates are completed.
We appreciate the community's patience while this work is undertaken and anticipate reopening bookings within the next two weeks.
Customers wishing to travel after 1 July can join our Forward Booking Notification List and will be notified by SMS or email as soon as bookings become available.
Keeping the Community Informed
We understand the importance of reliable ferry services to island residents, businesses and visitors.
As plans progress, we will continue to provide updates through our website, social media channels, customer newsletters and direct communications.
Our priority remains delivering a safe, reliable and sustainable ferry service while investing in the infrastructure needed to support the future of the SMBI community.
