SeaLink Bay Islands is pleased to offer discounted fares to Southern Moreton Bay Islands Residents and Ratepayers who are currently registered with us. Residents and Ratepayers are entitled to 20% off our public pricing for standard cars and motorbikes in recognition of your consistent travel with us.

SMBI Parking Relief Package - Subsidies on the Way

In addition to the above discount, the State Government will soon be introducing the SMBI Parking Relief Package – a solution to ease the pressure on island commuters. SMBI registered residents will benefit from a 50% vehicle ferry subsidy, marking a significant step forward in addressing long-standing transport and access concerns and delivering on Redlands Member Rebecca Young's commitment made at the 2024 election.

More details on the subsidies will be announced soon. In the meantime, if you are a SMBI resident who does not have a Resident profile, we encourage you to apply now using the form below.

Resident and Ratepayer Information

  • To qualify for a permanent island resident discount, you’ll need to complete the application form and provide one of the following documents for each vehicle you’d like to nominate.

    A resident is defined as someone who permanently lives on one of the Southern Moreton Bay Islands, with their vehicles registered to their island address.

    Accepted Vehicle Documents:

    • Vehicle Registration Certificate (if your island address or area concession is not listed, please also provide a photo or scan of the front and back of your driver’s licence)

    • Vehicle Renewal Notice (must list your island address)

    • Vehicle Insurance Document (must list the garaging address – this must be an island address or the Redland Bay carpark)

    • Screenshot of your TMR account homepage once logged in (must show your island address and the vehicles registered to you)

    The document must show that the vehicle is registered to a Southern Moreton Bay Island address. If it does not, we’ll need to sight your driver’s licence as additional proof of residency.

  • To qualify for a ratepayer discount, you’ll need to complete the application form, provide a recent council rates notice, and supply one of the following documents for each vehicle you wish to nominate.

    Ratepayers may nominate up to two vehicles for the discounted fare.

    Required Documents:

    • Vehicle Registration Certificate

    • Vehicle Renewal Notice

    • Vehicle Insurance Document

    Please allow up to 14 days for your application to be processed.

  • Once you have your Resident or Ratepayer profile, you can book online by logging in with the username and password issued to you by our registration team. Your discount will be automatically applied.

    If you choose to book in one of our offices or over the phone on (07) 3488 5300, quote your name or phone number to receive the discounted fare. Please note that our phone lines can often be busy.

  • Every two years, we will contact you by email to request that you update your details with us. This helps streamline the booking process and ensures the discount is only applied to genuine island residents and ratepayers.

    If you log in to your client profile and see the full standard fare, it means your profile has not yet been renewed.

    To renew your profile, please reapply using the steps above.

  • If you need to replace a nominated vehicle with another one, you’ll just need to complete a vehicle change request.

  • Depart one of the Bay Islands on Saturday afternoon and return on Sunday for only $88!

    Valid for:

    • Cars up to 5.4m in length
    • The return price is $88 for a car up to 5.4m in length
    • Valid from 01/04/2025 – 31/03/2026*
    • Valid to depart on Saturday and return on Sunday
    • Must be the same weekend return
    • Passengers returning to their islands any day after their scheduled Sunday will incur the difference in cost between a standard island resident fare
    • Departure times are 2:45pm onwards Saturday from Bay Islands and return anytime Sunday from Redland Bay
    • Client must be registered as a Bay Island Resident for the special to apply
    • Trailers are eligible, charged at standard rates

    Conditions:

    Not valid with any other offer/special promotion. If passengers change their return travel to a different day, the difference in full fare will apply. Payment is due at the time of booking. All other conditions are as per standard T&Cs.

    This offer is exclusively available to Southern Moreton Bay Island residents and can be redeemed online or over the phone by using the promo code BIWS. Please note that this offer is not available to ratepayers.

    Paid bookings are confirmed – this is not a standby fare. Payment must be made at the time of booking.

    Spaces are limited, subject to availability, and are capped in response to capacity demands.

    To create a profile, please submit the above relevant application form.

  • No. Only the vehicles registered to your Resident or Ratepayer profile will receive the discount. Valid vehicles must be registered to a Bay Islands address and include standard cars up to 5.4 metres or motorbikes.

  • Yes. If your vehicle is registered to your profile, it can travel at the discounted rate even if you are not the driver.

  • Yes. To ensure that we have an accurate record of all genuine Residents and Ratepayers, a renewal process will take place a minimum of once every two years.

  • Only vehicles that are approved and registered to your profile are eligible for the discount.

    If you need to travel in a different vehicle, you must log out of your Resident or Ratepayer profile and make a standard booking online. The standard fare will apply, and any difference in price must be paid before travel.

    Misuse of the discount may result in your online access being revoked or your account being suspended.
