Changes to Bruny Island Visitor Fares from 28 September 2026

From 28 September, we are simplifying visitor fares to two options - Regular and Saver. Saver remains available at designated Saver travel times. From 1 December to April, a 15% peak-season surcharge applies to the Visitor Regular fare only. Resident and Visitor Saver fares are not affected by that surcharge

The SeaLink Bruny Island ferry service operates on a queuing system.

You can pre-purchase your passenger or vehicle ticket online or pay at the ticket booth on arrival at the terminal.

  • Please note return fares for vehicles: travel for passengers (including drivers in all vehicles and pedestrians) is complimentary.
  • Pre-purchased tickets are not for a specific departure time but the next available ferry.
  • The fare charged will be based on the level applicable at the time the vehicle arrives at the ticket booth and not at the time the vehicle joins the queue.
  • Pre-purchased tickets can be used on any sailing however there will be no refund of any fare difference if the sailing time is at a lower cost.
  • Pre-purchased tickets are required to check-in on arrival using the barcode provided in the itinerary email.

Changes to Bruny Island Visitor Fares from 28 September 2026

From 28 September 2026, there will be changes to visitor fares for the Bruny Island Ferry Service.

The changes include a simplified visitor fare structure, making it easier for visitors to understand and compare the available fare options, as well as the introduction of a peak season surcharge for the Visitor Regular fare.

What's changing?

Simplified visitor fare structure

From 28 September 2026, the current three-tiered visitor fare structure will be simplified to a two-tiered structure:

  • Regular
  • Saver

This change will make it easier for visitors to understand and compare the fare options available for their journey. Visitor Saver fares will continue to offer a discounted fare at designated Saver travel times and are available for purchase at the ticket booth at those times.

Peak season surcharge

From December to April, a 15% peak season surcharge will apply to the Visitor Regular fare. Resident and Visitor Saver fares won't incur the surcharge.

The peak season surcharge reflects the additional operational resources required during the peak summer visitor season to deliver a safe and reliable ferry service during this busy period.
