SeaLink has entered a new phase as a marine transport business following Kelsian Group's divestment of its Tourism Portfolio to Journey Beyond on 30 September 2026.
Building on more than 35 years of experience connecting people and places by water, SeaLink continues to deliver essential ferry services across Australia, with operations expanding into New Zealand following its acquisition of Auckland ferry operator, Belaire Ferries.
Today, SeaLink provides passenger, vehicle and freight ferry services supporting residents, workers, students, businesses and visitors, with many services delivered through long-term government and commercial transport contracts.
SeaLink's Australian operations include:
- South Australia: SeaLink Kangaroo Island
- Queensland: SeaLink South East Queensland, SeaLink North Queensland, SeaLink Gladstone, and RiverCity Ferries
- Western Australia: SeaLink Rottnest Island and Transperth ferry services
- New Zealand: Auckland Transport ferry services.
From daily commuter and freight services to providing the critical transport link to some of Australia's most recognised destinations and remote communities, SeaLink plays a vital role in keeping people and places connected.
Kelsian Group Chief Executive Officer Graeme Legh said the transition marked an important step in SeaLink's long-term strategy, positioning the business for continued growth in marine transport.
"SeaLink has a proud history of connecting communities, supported by experienced people, strong operational capabilities and long-standing relationships with governments, businesses and the communities we service," Mr Legh said.
"With a clear focus on marine transport, SeaLink is well positioned to strengthen its existing operations, build on established partnerships and continue delivering the safe, reliable services that customers and communities depend on every day.
As SeaLink looks to the future, its renewed focus on marine transport is supported by the appointment of Craig Heron as Chief Operating Officer.
Craig brings more than 20 years of operational and executive leadership experience across maritime transport and operations, including global shipping, ports, terminals, stevedoring and island ferry services.
Most recently, Craig served as General Manager, Port Operations at TT-Line Company Pty Ltd, operator of Spirit of Tasmania, where he led landside port operations across passenger, freight, security and terminal services.
Craig will lead SeaLink's marine operations as the business strengthens its transport operations across Australia and expands into New Zealand.
Mr Legh said Craig's extensive maritime and transport experience would be invaluable in leading SeaLink's next phase of growth.
"Craig understands the complexities of marine transport and the importance of delivering services that people and communities not just depend on but can also rely on," Mr Legh said.
"He brings strong operational experience, a practical approach to leadership and a clear focus on people, safety and performance. We're pleased to have him leading SeaLink as we strengthen our operations and pursue new opportunities."
