Global study crowns Australia the world’s favourite destination for wildlife experiences

Global research has revealed Australia tops the list of destinations international travellers most want to visit for wildlife experiences. From iconic animals and spectacular island escapes to ancient landscapes, rich Aboriginal culture and remarkable natural wonders, SeaLink Marine & Tourism helps visitors discover many of the places that make Australia so extraordinary.

Research by Explore Worldwide, a leading global adventure travel company specialising in small-group holidays across more than 100 countries, found Australia topped the list of destinations travellers most want to visit for wildlife experiences. More than one-third (38%) of the 2,400 people surveyed across 12 countries chose Australia, well ahead of South Africa (11%), Kenya (9%), Canada (7%) and China (6%).

The research also found giant pandas topped travellers' wildlife wish lists, followed by elephants, kangaroos, koalas and whales. While Australia is one of the few countries where visitors can experience four of the world's five most sought-after wildlife encounters, it is the country's remarkable diversity of landscapes, island destinations, Aboriginal culture and nature-based experiences that continues to capture the imagination of travellers worldwide.
