“We are incredibly proud of the positive impact this program has had on the island. Supporting Kangaroo Island’s education, environmental conservation, health and wellbeing, and cultural initiatives ensures that the community continues to thrive and grow,” said Tracy Croft, General Manager for SeaLink South Australia.
A notable recipient is Kangaroo Island Community Education (KICE), a multi-campus government school serving 712 students from Preschool to Year 12 across campuses in Kingscote, Penneshaw, and Parndana. This sponsorship provided students with opportunities to attend educational events, statewide sporting competitions, and cultural activities both on the island and mainland, enriching their academic and personal development.
SeaLink’s CommunityLink program has also supported a variety of other Kangaroo Island community initiatives, including:
- Sports and Recreation: Assisting local clubs and events, encouraging active lifestyles and enhancing community engagement, including Kangaroo Island Football Leage and the Kangaroo Island Netball Association.
- Health and Wellbeing:
Supporting essential programs and services that contribute to the physical and mental wellbeing of Kangaroo Island residents, including Kangaroo Island Gymnastics.
- Environmental Conservation Projects: Efforts to preserve the island's unique flora and fauna, ensuring sustainable ecosystems for future generations, including the Kangaroo Island Wildlife Network, Kangaroo Island / Victor Harbour Dolphin Watch, and the Kangaroo Island Agricultural & Horticultural Society.
- Cultural Events and Festivals: Funding that has enabled numerous cultural gatherings, promoted community unity and celebrated local heritage, including the Western Kangaroo Island Lions Club of Parndana and the Kangaroo Island Pony Club.
- Educational Workshops and Seminars: Funding for programs offering valuable learning opportunities to residents of all ages, fostering personal and professional growth, including the Kangaroo Island Future Leaders Program.
These initiatives reflect SeaLink's practical approach to supporting the community, addressing diverse aspects of life on Kangaroo Island. SeaLink remains committed to identifying and assisting programs that align directly with the development and well-being of the community.
