The SeaLink ferry service departs Darwin at 6:00am, with a relaxed 2.5-hour cruise across the Beagle Gulf to Bathurst Island.
On arrival at Wurrumiyanga, step into the heart of Tiwi culture. Choose to spend your morning exploring the Patakijiyali Museum, where you’ll uncover the stories of the Mission days, the Tiwi Creation story, Tiwi involvement in WWII, and their deep love of football. Just a short stroll away, wander through the historic mission precinct and visit the iconic Tiwi Design, one of the oldest and most artistically diverse art centres in Australia.
Settle in among the crowd at the football oval ready for the main event, the Tiwi Islands Football Grand Final. Enjoy your boxed lunch as the atmosphere builds and the community comes together for the biggest day on the Tiwi calendar.
As the final siren sounds and the community celebrations wind down, head back to the ferry for the 4:30pm departure, returning to Darwin by approximately 7:30pm.
