Our History
SeaLink South East Queensland has been connecting people and communities for more than 60 years.
Our story began in June 1964, when Stradbroke Ferries introduced its first vehicle ferry, MV Myora, operating between Redland Bay and Dunwich on North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah). In 1972, the service moved to Toondah Harbour in Cleveland, which remains our mainland departure point for the island today.
From a single ferry servicing North Stradbroke Island, the business has grown to support communities across South East Queensland. Today, we operate vehicle and passenger ferry services between Cleveland and Dunwich, and between Redland Bay and the Southern Moreton Bay Islands of Russell, Macleay, Lamb and Karragarra. We also operate the Moggill Ferry, connecting Moggill and Riverview across the Brisbane River, and a dedicated ambulance boat service for the Queensland Ambulance Service.
With more than 200 staff, SeaLink South East Queensland supports local employment, businesses and tourism. Our services provide essential connections for residents, commuters and visitors, helping people get to work, access services, transport goods and explore the region.
Our North Stradbroke Island services depart from Toondah Harbour at 12 Emmett Drive, Cleveland, and operate year-round.
