We love being part of the Straddie community and are committed to supporting our residents and ratepayers. Residents receive 50% off on same-day travel, helping you to run errands or attend events. In addition, all other vehicle ferry trips are discounted 20% for Residents and 10% for Ratepayers, ensuring that your journeys are more affordable and accessible.

  • Ratepayer – you own property on North Stradbroke Island but live on the mainland.
  • Resident – you live on North Stradbroke Island permanently and your vehicles are registered to your island address.

North Stradbroke Island Residents

  • 20% off all vehicle ferry bookings.

    Residents receive 20% off all vehicle ferry travel. You must apply for a resident profile to receive the discount, which is applied to the actual vehicle you travel in rather than to yourself.

    In your application, you will need to tell us which car or cars you use to travel to and from the island. Once approved, your vehicle will receive the discounted fare.

    If you choose to book in one of our offices or over the phone at (07) 3488 5300, all you need to do is quote the name or phone number on your resident profile to receive the discounted fare. If you choose to book online, you will need to log in with the username and password that is issued by our registration team (you will receive an online discount in addition to the resident rate).

    NSI Resident Login

    The North Stradbroke Island Resident discount will apply to:
    • Standard cars up to 6m long
    • Motorbikes

    If you wish to travel with a commercial vehicle, a truck, or any other vehicle that is 2m or greater in width, the standard truck rate will apply to that vehicle.

  • 50% off the return trip when travelling on the same day.

    Discounted ferry travel for NSI Residents when travelling on return ferry travel commencing Dunwich with a registered vehicle up to 6 meters in length.

    Booking conditions:
    • Valid from 2/11/2023 – 31/03/2024* Exclusion dates apply
    • Cars up to 6m in length
    • Trailers are eligible and must be booked return (not one way)

    How to book online:
    1. Login to your resident profile
    2. Visit the book ferry page
    3. Enter passenger and vehicle details using the vehicle template on your profile
    4. Book the preferred times in each direction, ensuring the first departure is from Dunwich.
    5. On the checkout screen enter the promo code NSISAMEDAY
    6. Provided the conditions are met the discount will apply at checkout

    This offer is valid online or over the phone. It is not valid with any other offer/special promotion. If passengers change their return travel to a different day, the difference in full fare will apply. Depart from Dunwich and return from Cleveland. Payment is due at the time of booking. All other conditions are as per standard T&Cs.

  • To qualify for a permanent island resident discount, you will need to fill out the application form and supply one of the below vehicle documents for each car that you would like to nominate for the resident discount.

    • Vehicle registration certificate. (IF the document does not list an island address or area concession, please also provide a scan/photo of the front and back of your driver’s license).
    • Vehicle Renewal Notice (must list island address).
    • Vehicle Insurance Document (must list the garaging address of the vehicle – this needs to be an island address or the Cleveland carpark).

    The vehicle document must show that the vehicle is registered to a North Stradbroke Island address or has an area concession.

  • It is important we have your current contact details on file. Simply log into your account to update any personal details such as best mobile contact and email address. We use this information to send you your booking information and to contact you in the event of any changes to your booking such as delays due to weather.

    As we assign the discounted fare to your vehicle not your profile if you replace your nominated vehicle or have an additional vehicle/s to add to your profile you simply need to complete the vehicle change / update request process.

    For your convenience, you can complete the entire request online.

    North Stradbroke Resident Vehicle Change Request Form

  • To ensure that our genuine island residents (and ratepayers) benefit from the discount, we will contact you to renew your details with us every two to three years. This will assist us in ensuring our details are up to date and will streamline your booking process.

    You will receive an email requesting you to confirm or renew your details by a particular date. After the cut-off date, we will deactivate any profiles that were not renewed.

    To renew your profile, please follow the above directions under "Apply for a Resident Profile".

  • The SeaLink Long-Term Car Park at Toondah Harbour is located on the corner of Middle Street and Emmett Drive, Cleveland, behind the SeaLink SEQ passenger and vehicle ferry terminal.

    Bays (spaces) in this car park are held on a permanent, long-term basis and are suitable for standard vehicles (up to 5.4m long and 2m wide) only.

    Please note that the car park is NOT a secure car park and SeaLink SEQ will not be held liable for any loss or damage, as per the Long-Term Car Park Terms & Conditions.

    Due to high demand, there is currently a waitlist, and applicants can expect waiting periods of longer than18 months. To apply to join the waitlist, simply complete the Long Term Parking Waitlist Application.

North Stradbroke Island Ratepayers

  • 10% off all vehicle ferry bookings.

    The ratepayer discount is applied to the actual vehicle you travel in, rather than to yourself. Ratepayers can nominate up to 2 vehicles for the discounted fare.

    In your application, you will need to let us know which car or cars you use to travel to and from the island, and once approved, your vehicle will receive the discounted fare.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • A profile allows us to keep your contact and vehicle details in the one place to streamline your booking process. The online login function is linked with your customer profile.

  • Physical applications can be posted to PO Box 195, Cleveland or handed in to the Cleveland or Dunwich office. Please note that incomplete applications will not be accepted.

  • No, once you’re logged in to the website as a Resident or Ratepayer, you will only be able to select from a list of vehicles that are registered to your profile.

  • Yes, if your vehicle is registered to your profile, it can still travel at the discounted rate even if you are not the driver.

  • Our terms and conditions can be found here.

  • Yes, for us to ensure that we have an accurate record of all genuine Residents and Ratepayers, a renewal process will take place a minimum of once every two years.

  • Only the vehicles approved and registered to your profile will be entitled to the discount. You will need to log out of your profile to make a booking online. The vehicle will incur the standard rate and any difference in fare must be paid before travel. Continued misuse of the discount may result in online privileges being revoked or your account suspended temporarily.

  • We have a flexible fare structure similar to an airline. We offer cheaper rates for customers who can travel off-peak. To get an off-peak fare, it is recommended to book as far in advance as possible, as the prices can change based on demand. Public holidays, school holidays, Fridays and Sundays are usually excluded from these cheaper fares as they are the busiest times to travel.
