Camping on K'gari
On Fraser Island, camping zones range from beachfront to under the canopy of an ancient rainforest, and although there are 45 unique zones available, you’ll need to book your campsite well in advance. Depending on your chosen location, facilities can vary, with some sites offering basic amenities such as toilets and showers, while the more remote sites may have more limited facilities.
We encourage all those choosing to camp on K'gari to ensure the impact on the environment is minimal. K’gari is part of a National Park, and it is important to leave your campsite better than how you found it to respect the island’s natural beauty.

K'gari/Fraser Island Camping Permits
All Queensland Parks and Wildlife camping zones require camping permits which must be purchased before you begin setting up your camp. Note: permits cannot be purchased on-site from a ranger.
As mobile reception can be unreliable on the island, we recommend purchasing your permit online or at a permit issuing centre before arriving on the island.
Campsites on Fraser Island can be pre-booked up to six months in advance, and this is strongly advised during the school holidays and public holidays.
At the time of making your booking, be prepared with the name of the camping zone or area you are booking, along with your preferred travel dates.
