Don’t miss this amazing opportunity to see the gentle giants of the sea.
Each year the waters along the east coast of Australia come alive with the annual migration of majestic Humpback Whales. Over 20,000 Humpback whales make the 3,500km journey from sub-Antarctic waters to the Great Barrier Reef every year.
These amazing mammals love playing in the warmer waters on their annual migration north to feed, mate and give birth before returning south with their calves. They love to show off with breathtaking breaches, tail slapping and even a close-up wink when they are feeling extra curious.
Prime time to enjoy an amazing encounter with these gentle giants of the sea include:
- May - July (northern migration): Sydney, K'gari (Fraser Island), Magnetic Island (Townsville)
- August - October (southern migration): Magnetic Island (Townsville), K'gari (Fraser Island) and Sydney
