Penneshaw Markets

When: 1st Sunday of every month October to April, with additional markets on Easter Sunday and for cruise ship visits. See the table below for market dates.

Where: Penneshaw Oval (a short walk from the ferry terminal)

Time: Penneshaw Market Days 9am - 1pm. 

Sample and purchase a range of fresh local products from the very people who grow, farm or make it. Breakfast, coffee and a great village atmosphere are all on offer with the Kangaroo Island Farmer’s Market and Kangaroo Island Community Markets who come together to bring you a great local village market atmosphere. 

Stay for the day and enjoy lunch at one of Penneshaw’s cafes or the Penneshaw Hotel. Laze on the beach, go fishing or take some of the great walking trails around Penneshaw.

Kingscote Farmers & Artisan Market

When: 2nd Sunday & 4th Sunday of each month

Where: The Kingscote Wharf

Time: 10am - 2pm

Come along and to Shop, Eat, Drink & Chill at the Kingscote Farmers & Artisan Market at the Kingscote Wharf from 10am- 2pm on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month.

KI Easter Art Exhibition

When: 2nd - 18th April 2021

Where: Penneshaw Town Hall

Time: Opening Good Friday 6.30pm. Open daily 9.30am - 5pm, except Wed 7th and 14th April (closing at 8pm).

Bought to you by the Arts Collective KI, a not for profit arts organisation, this exhibition is a chance to see works from local Kangaroo Island artists with the theme, On The Edge. Once every two years, the artists of Kangaroo Island come together in the biggest single celebration of the island’s creativity at the longstanding Easter Art Exhibition in Penneshaw Town Hall.

In its 33rd year it is supported with judges from the Art Gallery of SA and Guildhouse. On the Edge is the major themed open-category and over $10,000 in prizes will be offered for current works 2D, 3D and photography. Spanning all generations of artists including the island’s young people, the exhibition offers diverse encounters with contemporary art practices. 300+ individual exhibits will be on show traversing mediums such as painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, photography and jewellery.

Celebrate with our artists at the official opening and presentation night, 6:30 pm Friday 2 April 2021. Meet the judges 10:30 Saturday 3 April 2021.

Adelaide Guitar Festival on the Road | Kangaroo Island

The Adelaide Guitar Festival is hitting the road and coming to Kangaroo Island for a FREE all ages event, filled with some of Australia's most talented guitarists.

Featuring Aidan ‘Jazzy’ Jones, Chris Finnen, Duo Antipodes and more. Full line-up announced 1 April. SeaLink are proud supporters of this event.

Dudley Wines Sunday Vibes

When: First Sunday of each month

Where: Dudley Wines Clifftop Cellar Door, Dudley Penninsula

Time: 10am - 5pm, live music from 1.30pm

Head over to Dudley Wines for their Sunday Vibes on the first Sunday of each month. Enjoy the spectacular view over the Dudley Penninsula, soak up the live music on the deck and have a hit of golf at their one tee driving range.

You'll also be able to try their selection of boutique wines and wood oven pizza. This is a great day out for the whole family. Bookings recommended.

2021 Kangaroo Island Marathon

When: Saturday 1st May 2021

Where: Flinders Chase National Park

If you're searching for an adventure then the Kangaroo Island Marathon is for you! Set on Kangaroo Island, the KI Marathon is a destination marathon that showcases one of Australia’s best kept secrets. This is a premium running experience available to a maximum of 500 runners each year and attracts runners from around the globe.

The course route is located in the remote south-west corner of Flinders Chase National Park, starting and finishing at the Visitor's Centre. Be inspired by deviating and undulating roads that cut through dense forest, an exposed coastal section with views of the powerful Southern Ocean, a loop that travels by historic landmarks such as Cape de Couedic Lighthouse and Admirals Arch, and a zig-zag boardwalk leading to the iconic Remarkable Rocks. 2020 was a gap year for the event with everything that happened, but the event will be back in full strength for 2021!

2021 Wildroo Ultra Marathon

When: Friday 10th September 2021

Where: The course starts and finishes in Penneshaw

The WILDROO offers runners the option of a 30K or 60K race distance. The course route starts and finishes in the quaint township of Penneshaw. A sunrise hill climb transports runners to the top of Dudley Peninsula providing panoramic ocean views to mainland South Australia. Runners will head south crossing over Chapman River and looping around Cape Willoughby lighthouse, before a detour across coastal farm trails that pass by Antechamber Bay. The final stretch descends a historic tree lined canopy called Binney's track, returning runners to the local footy oval where they'll be greeted by family and friends.

2022 SeaLink Kangaroo Island Racing Carnival & Dudley Wines Kangaroo Island Cup

When: Thursday 17th - Saturday 19th February 2022

Where: Cygnet River Racecourse

Kangaroo Island comes alive over the SeaLink Kangaroo Island Cup Carnival weekend held at the beautiful Cygnet River Race Course.

The KI Cup transforms this country racecourse with trackside marquees, colour, fashion and a party atmosphere! More and more people are making a long weekend of it and enjoying the carnival atmosphere of the SeaLink KI Cup.
