Take a stroll down our famous Koala Walk and observe the amazing and beautiful Koalas relaxing in the avenues of Eucalyptus trees.  These run for 45 minutes in our “supervised only” areas where our guides will take you straight to where the action is!

Self-Guided Koala Walk

Take a leisurely stroll down Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary's famous Koala Walk. Observe the amazing and beautiful koalas relaxing in the avenue of shady Eucalyptus trees.

The Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary is the best place on Kangaroo Island to see a sustainable population of koalas in the wild. You can expect to see between fifteen to twenty Koalas to at any one time. You are welcome to stay as long as you like enjoying these beautiful Australian marsupials. Take your camera, water bottle and binoculars.

Prices are per person and valid from 1st of April 2019 to 31st of March 2020, for other dates please enquire. *Family price is for 2 adults and 2 children. Children are aged 0-11 years. Student 12-17 years. Please set the child age to 11 years or less  or student age 17 years or less when you reach the checkout to receive the correct price.

Hanson Bay Visitor Centre & Cafe 

Opening Hours: Spring/Summer: 8am until 6pm. Autumn/Winter: 9am until 5pm.

The Hanson Bay Visitor Centre & Cafe offers information, meals and snacks, drinks, souvenirs and barista made coffee. They also stock provisions such as milk and bread plus a large selection of local produce and artwork. The visitor centre and cafe is at the Koala Walk and has ample parking.

The cafe can provide gourmet meals packaged to take with you. Simply order in advance and then pick them up at the cafe. Portions are generous. They are perfect after a long day of touring. Please contact the Hanson Bay Visitor Centre & Cafe for details on 08 8559 7344.
