SeaLink Kangaroo Island Racing Carnival 16 - 18 February 2017

The SeaLink Kangaroo Island Racing Carnival is a ‘must do’ on the South Australian event calendar. The Cygnet River Racecourse comes alive with great country racing on Thursday 16th and Saturday 18th February with lots of other entertainment to be had around the island over the weekend. See the photos from previous years on Facebook. If you're heading along, you can purchase general admission tickets at the gate.

Thursday’s race day is a pretty casual day but on Saturday punters like to dress up in true racing style and enjoy the trackside entertainment, colourful marquees, fashion on the field competition and local KI food and wine.

The Kangaroo Island Long Lunch is very popular and tickets should be booked well in advance. The exciting menu will be prepared by Sue Pearson from Two Birds and a Squid and accompanied by Dudley Wines and a selection of beers.

Race-day packages including coach and ferry transfers are available for the Saturday event only departing from Adelaide, Cape Jervis, Penneshaw and American River. These packages are great whether you just want to head to KI for the day or even if you are already staying on KI for the weekend. You can buy a race day package with transfers and racetrack entry, or you can also include the Kangaroo Island Long Lunch.

Party Tents

Book your very own Party Tent on the main race day, from $225. This fee does not include entry to the track. Bring your own nibbles, purchase from the local food stalls or pre-order from Lucy’s KI Kitchen using the food order form. Please note, the last date to pre-order food is Sunday 12th February.

You are not permitted to bring alcohol onto the race course. Drink tickets can be purchased at the race course to be used in the bar, or drinks can be pre-ordered and will be delivered to your Party Tent by 11am on race day. Please use the drinks order form. The last date to pre-order is Tuesday 7th February.

For Party Tent bookings and further information, contact Dean Wiles from the Kangaroo Island Racing Club on 0438 875 271.

Why not make a long weekend of it? Take your car on the ferry and book a self-drive package, and save $76*. Or you could give yourself a few extra days to explore more of the fabulous sights and attractions around Kangaroo Island. Keep in mind while there are many great places to stay, they do sell out quickly, so book early to avoid disappointment.
