Kangaroo Island residents now have access to book new, lower ferry fares for travel from 7th March 2022. 

Kangaroo Island resident passenger and vehicle fares are available only to eligible Kangaroo Island residents. Please present photo ID at check in with proof of Kangaroo Island address.

Bookings can be made by calling the SeaLink Sales Centre on 13 13 01 or 8551 7222, visiting one of our locations, or online using your Kangaroo Island resident log in. If you do not have a resident log in, please contact our Sales Centre.

Please note: SeaLink will be introducing change and cancellation fees for Kangaroo Island resident fares. They will not come into effect until at least July 2023. Details of the fees will be communicated to residents once finalised.

Notice for Kangaroo Island Residents travelling in May 2022

Wednesday 4 May 2022

As many of you are aware, we will be operating with one ferry (the Sealion 2000), as of today for one month.  Our Spirit of Kangaroo Island (SPOKI) ferry set sail for Port Lincoln today for drydocking to undergo urgent repairs and annual maintenance.

In addition to adding extra earlier and later departures for Sealion 2000, we have been working closely with our fuel suppliers to help us lighten the fuel load on each ferry service. This will require the fuel suppliers to increase the frequency of refuelling, but will enable us to safely increase the tonnage capacity for each service, therefore opening up more vehicle deck space.   

We know this is very important to Kangaroo Island residents and SeaLink customers, so if you are looking for vehicle space in the coming weeks, we urge you to contact us on 13 13 01 and join a waitlist on the services you would prefer. We will then work through the waitlist process and contact you if we are able to accommodate your needs. Once waitlist customers have been accommodated, we will free up any additional space approximately 48 to 72 hours prior to departure.

Please also be reminded a morning and evening SeaLink Shuttle Bus service between Kingscote, American River and Penneshaw, and a SeaLink Connection Bus from Cape Jervis to Adelaide operates and is an alternative way to get to and from Adelaide. We also believe that rental cars have been repositioned to Cape Jervis as a another option.

Terms and Conditions:

  • Special valid for travel until 31st March 2023.
  • Applicable to new bookings only that include a vehicle and passengers.
  • Special not valid for unaccompanied vehicles.
  • This is applicable on the 5.30 AM ex Penneshaw and the 6.00 AM and 7.00 AM ex Cape Jervis ferries only. If there is a 4.30 AM ex Penneshaw this service will also qualify.
  • Applicable to vehicles that are up to and including 6m in length only. Any vehicle that is over 6m is charged at the standard KI resident fares. Discount is not applicable on trailers, boats, caravans, camper trailers but the vehicle towing the trailer will receive the discount if it is <6m.
  • The 50% discount is applicable to KI Resident travel only and is not available in conjunction with Family and Friends fares, or available with any other special offer.
  • If changing a booking to a non-Early Bird sailing, standard KI Resident fares will apply, and additional charges must be paid prior to travel.
  • This offer is bookable online using your Resident login and web discount does not apply.

Family & Friends Fares

Kangaroo Island residents are able extend special discounted passenger ferry fares to family and friends, representing a saving on standard passenger fares.

For travel within 30 days of booking, full payment must be made at time of booking. These discounted ferry fares are for friends and family members' leisure travel and are not permitted for business use.These fares can only be made by family and friends or KI residents, by calling SeaLink direct. Family and friends must confirm the full name, address, and telephone number at the time of booking to verify Kangaroo Island residency.

Family and friends are not permitted to use the Resident login or password to make bookings.

Note: At a date to be announced, Family and Friends’ ferry fares will be replaced by a more dynamic price model offering different fare types depending on the day, time of year, departure etc.


SeaLink Shuttle and SeaLink Coach Connection Services

Effective 7th March 2022, return shuttle services between Kingscote, American River and Penneshaw, and Coach Connection services between Cape Jervis and Adelaide operate twice daily and and can be booked at standard fares which can then be added to a KI resident ferry fare.

Viewing KI Resident Past and Future Bookings

Past and future bookings can be viewed by using your SeaLink Kangaroo Island resident log in and checking your ‘Booking History’. Future bookings can also be modified using this process.

Instructions:

  • Log in at the top right corner of the SeaLink website home page. Enter your username and password, then click 'Login'.
  • A pop-up will ask you to confirm that you are a Kangaroo Island resident. Select 'I Agree' to continue if you are a bonafide resident.
  • Select 'Booking History' at the top of the page.
  • Bookings will display under 'Upcoming Bookings' and 'Past Bookings'. Click on any booking reference to view relevant information.
    • For Upcoming Bookings: You will be able to view the booking on your screen, modify the booking (for basic ferry and coach bookings) and/or generate documents, such as tax invoices and itineraries.
    • For Past Bookings: You can view the booking on your screen and/or generate documents.

Accessing KI Resident Rates When Booking Online

Instructions:
  • Log in at the top right corner of the SeaLink website home page. Enter your username and password, then click 'Login'.
  • A pop-up will ask you to confirm that you are a Kangaroo Island resident. Select 'I Agree' to continue if you are a bonafide resident.
  • When booking, the resident rates will automatically be made available to you.
  • If you need to make any changes to your booking, you can also ‘Manage’ your bookings online too. Read more about the feature and how to use it here.
