Until recently I’d never been to Pennington Bay!!! I’ve been to Kangaroo Island about 20 times and sadly I’d never been there.
From what I have now seen it is one of the most beautiful spots on the island. They say that KI is the zoo without fences and on the road into Pennington Bay we saw an echidna, about 20 kangaroos, and an emu. What more could you want?
Make your way here for a beach day, a walk with the family or just head to the lookout and watch and waves and surfers do their thing. When the sun is out, the colour of the water here is unbelievable!!
The Oyster Farm Shop
This place is fantastic!
Located at American River where tourism pretty much all started on KI many moons ago, it used to be the hang out for honeymooning couples.
It’s a great little town and great fresh oysters straight out of the ocean! Stop by the Oyster Farm Shop to say hello to Amanda and the team. They also have tours so you can learn about their oyster farms, with the Pacific Oyster season running from April to February each year!
Pictured here is the Aqua Platter Experience, showcasing the best sustainable seafood the island has to offer, with some delicious KI wine.
Kingscote is the biggest town on KI and it really is the heart of the island, in amongst that heart you’ll find the Aurora Ozone Hotel.
It is just the epicenter of entertainment on KI. A great place to stay, with fantastic food, fantastic beers, and really lovely people. It's located on the Kingscote Foreshore, so you have a beach right at your doorstep, the jetty not far away for a spot of fishing and all round great ocean views.
Head away with your family, or like these guys, get a group together for a celebration. This place is the perfect mix of old school charm and modern facilities with an outdoor pool, sauna, BBQ area and free all important wireless internet access. See their bonus accommodation offer when travelling from 15th May to 15th September 2021!
For those who want to get away from the towns of KI - Emu Bay accommodation is perfect.
It’s spread out and located not that far away from one of the most beautiful beaches on the island.
You'll enjoy fantastic views of the ocean and you'll only be a short 15 minute to the beach. The property has over 5 acres of gardens so is perfect for a wander to see the wildlife like koalas, echidnas and variety of birds.
Stay 3 to 6 nights and receive one night free*, or stay 7+ and receive 2 nights free* when travelling from 15th May - 15th September 2021!* Conditions apply. See website for details.
False Cape Wines
This winery is just beautifully located and it’s a South Australian family business, which is just so awesome.
The wines are simply brilliant but while you’re there you have to try one of their pies, their pies are second to none.
And if you’re going to have a pie then you have to wash it down with some of their sensational shiraz!! Buy a paddle of wine while you're here so you can try their delicious boutique reds or whites.
You'll love the calm friendly vibe here with owners Julie & Jamie providing outstanding service. There's also a great kids nature playground and farm animals for the kids to see.
One of the best tourism things you can do on the island is Kangaroo Island Marine Adventures.
To get out with the dolphins and to see the birds is absolutely amazing. You might even come across a whale sighting or two with Southern Right Whales on their annual migration from May to October each year.
The water here is so clear you'll have full visibility of the incredible dolphins and make sure you bring your swimmers for a dip in the water with these majestic creatures.
Andrew as a skipper is as good as it gets and like I’ve always said, if it’s good enough for Zac Efron it’s good enough for me!
