Edition 1: March 2024

SeaLink Marine & Tourism’s leadership team came together in Brisbane as part of setting a 5-year Strategic Plan and direction for our Group as well as planning for Financial Year 2024/25.

The first day of the conference was with our counterparts from across the Kelsian Group including the management teams from Transit Systems (Australia), Tower Transit (Singapore and United Kingdom), and All Aboard America Holdings (America).

Following the Kelsian day, we broke into a dedicated 2-days focusing on SeaLink Marine & Tourism where we worked through a range of topics including:

  • Finalising our 5-year Strategic Plan Goals
  • Modernising our sales and marketing by leveraging our investment in Salesforce
  • Business growth and innovation
  • Achieving a safety focused culture
  • Managing our risks
  • Australian competition law
  • Work health safety investigations
  • Internal audit
  • Technology and systems, and much more.

The conference also included a “not-so-friendly” competition where we had to build four new bikes to donate to the Clontarf Foundation as part of our ongoing partnership and support to improve prospects for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men. The competition was a race which included different creative challenges including dancing and acting. Congratulations goes to Team Tiggers (Andrea Lively, Tracy Croft, Kane Bassett, Chris Briggs and Chris Benson) for taking out the top award – winners were certainly grinners. It really was a fun way to see our One Team value in action even if it did get a little competitive. And yes, all teams did build a fully functional bike by the end of the race.

Introducing the 'Golden Mic Award'

General Manager North Queensland, Darren Spearman, was also awarded the inaugural SeaLink Marine & Tourism ‘Golden Mic Award’ for the most media appearances and coverage over the last 12 months. There may have been some gloating after the award win, which has seen the challenge laid down for the other General Managers to win the highly coveted mic next year.

SEQ welcomes the SeaLink M&T GMs

A number of the leadership team also took the opportunity to visit our South East Queensland operations. Thank you to Ben Renwick and the SEQ team for their warm welcome and hospitality in showing us around the Cleveland and Redland Bay terminals.

We are excited to provide more information on some new initiatives on the above topics in the coming months as we chart our course for the future.
