There are four privately owned, managed caravan parks on Kangaroo Island, so at peak times it is wise to book ahead. These are located at Penneshaw (Dudley Peninsula), Western KI (near Flinders Chase National Park), Parndana (central KI), and Kingscote (Brownlow). For further information and bookings – call 13 13 01 or see the Tourism Kangaroo Island caravan and camping information.

Caravan Parks and Camping Grounds in Kangaroo Island

Taking your campervan or caravan to Kangaroo Island
With SeaLink, you can take your campervan, camper trailer or caravan to Kangaroo Island. You must however pre-book your travel and specify the exact length of the caravan from tow bar to end of the caravan/camper trailer. The total length including your towing vehicle will also be required.
SeaLink ferries can accept any size/length vehicle and if you have any fears or troubles reversing it onto the ferry, don’t worry, our crew will be happy to assist and do the maneuvering for you.
If towing a large van over 5 meters in length, please be aware that due to restricted turning room, low branches, and road conditions, there will be some towns, areas, and campgrounds on Kangaroo Island that may be generally inaccessible or only accessible dependent on road conditions e.g. American River, Murray Lagoon, D’Estrees Bay, Western River Cove, Antechamber Bay.
Campgrounds & Fires
Camping is only permitted in designated areas on Kangaroo Island and some can be booked ahead. Campfires are only permitted in designated locations and wood fires are not permitted in National or Conservation Parks at any time. Only gas and liquid fuel stoves are permitted. No fires are permitted in any locations on a total fire ban day.
