Kangaroo Island is internationally recognised for its amazing coastal landscapes, exceptional Australian native wildlife and spectacular natural attractions. This tour has it all, with a touch of adventure, and is aimed at the more spirited, budget traveller who enjoys experiencing places and attractions not on the main route. Guests travel in small groups on a mid-sized coach for a fun and informal yet informative two days touring on Kangaroo Island.
DAY 1
Depart Adelaide and enjoy a scenic coach trip through Fleurieu Peninsula to Cape Jervis where you will board the SeaLink ferry for the 45-minute journey across Backstairs Passage to Kangaroo Island.
Check out the fabulous surf and fishing beach at Pennington Bay; drop into the Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery, the only commercial eucalyptus distillery in South Australia; and visit stunning Seal Bay and get up close and personal with a wild breeding colony of rare Australian Sea Lions.
At Little Sahara explore the huge white sand dunes and test your skills at sand boarding. Visit beautiful Vivonne Bay, once judged Australia's best beach, and look for koalas at Hanson Bay Koala Sanctuary.
With overnight farm stay accommodation you'll get to know everyone on the tour around the campfire as you share stories of the day's touring and prepare the evening meal. After dinner, grab a torch and head out on a guided nocturnal walk and spot kangaroos, wallabies and possums.
DAY 2
Begin the day by looking for some of the island's wildlife including koalas, echidnas, kangaroos, wallabies and even the migratory Cape Barren Geese throughout the Flinders Chase National Park & Visitor Information Centre.
Check out the impressive Remarkable Rocks, Admiral's Arch and the resident colony of fur seals at Cape du Couedic. Look for more wildlife on the walk to Snake Lagoon or the Platypus walk.
Head to the beautiful and secluded 'secret' beach of Stokes Bay and take a walk at Ironstone Hill (time permitting) to find wallabies and admire the spectacular view back to the mainland. Arrive back in Penneshaw for a chance to buy some dinner before the return journey to Adelaide.
